Provinces mark War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day

(VOVworld) – Da Nang city’s Women Union on Saturday hosted a program to honor heroines and female activists who made great contributions to Vietnam’s struggles for independence and liberation. The events marked the 65th War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day. The Union presented 5 saving books worth 250 USD each to needy members. Do Thi Kim Linh is Chairwoman of the Da Nang Women’s Union:“This program shows our deep gratitude to sacrifices made by our female predecessors and continues to educate the tradition of Vietnamese women, who laid down their lives for national independence and freedom. The city’s Women’ Union sends our sympathy to some disadvantaged families of those who joined the wars against the French and the American.”

On this occasion, Ninh Binh province honored 4 outstanding organizations for their gratitude works and 41 war invalids and martyrs’ relatives, who have overcome difficulties to stabilize their lives. In Thai Nguyen province, 22 war veterans have been awarded with medals. An exhibition of soldiers during the war against the French is underway in Hoa Binh province.
