Public security forces to uphold central role in maintaining national security

(VOVWORLD) - The public security sector must move forward in its central role of maintaining national security and social order and safety in any situation, said Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong.

This is one of the key tasks designated by the leader while addressing the 74th national public security conference in Hanoi on Thursday. Mr. Trong said: “The public security sector needs review its operations, and take a proactive approach in preventing and countering hostile forces and terrorist activity. The sector must be prepared to effectively combat non-traditional threats as well as complex emerging issues relating to security. In dealing with complicated situations, the sector needs to uphold its responsibility and coordinate with relevant agencies.”

The Party and State leader applauded the great efforts and contributions of the sector to national welfare, and honored officers and soldiers who have surmounted difficulties to complete their assigned tasks. He that throughout 2016-2018, the public security forces have  performed their role well in maintaining national security and social order and safety, as well as ensuring domestic peace  and making Vietnam a safe destination for international travelers.
