(VOVWORLD) - Russian President Vladimir Putin told his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas on Monday that he has discussed the Middle East conflict with US President Donald Trump.
Putin said they also talked about the Israeli-Palestinian settlement, adding that the situation in the region is far from the one that they would like to see. He said that Russia has always supported the Palestinian people. Putin and Abbas met in Moscow on Monday.
President Abbas has refused to contact Trump’s administration or cooperate in any form with the US in its status as mediator. He will attend the UN Security Council's Middle East meeting next Tuesday.
