(VOVWORLD) - Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday discussed the cooperation agreement between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
During their phone conversation, the two sides discussed the latest regional and global developments. They also referred to the upcoming regular session of the IAEA Board of Governors, scheduled to take place later this month in Vienna, Austria, and emphasized the need to maintain close coordination between Iran and Russia in addressing matters related to the Tehran–IAEA cooperation framework and other nuclear issues.
For his part, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reaffirmed Moscow’s readiness to continue bilateral and regional consultations, stressing the importance of cooperation among regional countries to uphold collective security.
On July 2, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian approved the suspension of cooperation with the IAEA after the decision was ratified by the Iranian Parliament.
