Lavrov said they hope there will be a way out of the current confrontation. He said Moscow does not accept the "missile and nuclear stunts" of North Korea which is a violation of UN resolutions. He also raised Russia’s concern over the US’s deployment of its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system in South Korea and Japan.

Minister Kono stressed the importance of fully implementing UN sanctions against the North to boost the denuclearization on the Korean peninsula. He added that Japan is working on all possible measures to increase pressure and persuade Pyongyang to halt its nuclear and missile program.
