(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s seafood exports are likely to hit 7 billion USD this year, the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) predicted. This prediction is based on an increase in shrimp prices in all markets and a recovery in volume of exported tra fish and octopus. The shrimp industry is on a growth track and could earn 3.5 billion USD thanks to the prosperity of major consumers of Vietnamese shrimps, including China, the Republic of Korea, and Australia. VASEP forecasts that octopus exports will grow and generate 470 million USD in revenue.

In the first 5 months of this year, seafood exports totaled about 3 billion USD, up 21% over last year.
