(VOVWORLD) - Permanent member of the Party Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong on Monday asked Yen Bai province to reduce the poverty rate below 10% by 2020.

At a meeting with local voters, Mr. Vuong asked Yen Bai’s leaders to boost local economic development, particularly by expanding cinnamon tree cultivation. Mr. Vuong said the Party and State will consider local voters’ opinions and try to fulfill their wishes.

At a meeting with voters in Can Tho city on Monday, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man said climate change is affecting provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta and asked Can Tho authorities to take steps to reduce landslide damage and improve road maintenance.

"Can Tho authorities need to focus on improving roads and other infrastructure ahead of the storm season. The city also needs to pay attention to waste treatment," said Mr. Man.
