Slovakia takes over the EU presidency for the first time

(VOVworld) – Slovakia took over the EU presidency on Friday. This is the 116th rotating presidency of the EU but only the first for Slovakia after it joined the EU 12 years ago.

Slovakia’s Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak said Slovakia is ready for the task despite a number of challenges including differences on migrant crisis, consequences of Brexit, and EU reform to enhance the bloc’s unity and prestige.

In its new post, in the coming 6 months, Slovakia will focus on promoting economic growth, establishing an integrated digital technological market, forming an energy alliance and solving migrant crisis.
