The event, part of the Sixth GEF Assembly and Associated Meetings 2018, is co-hosted by the World Bank and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam. Addressing the event, World Bank Vice President Axel van Trotsenburg said Vietnam has one of the richest biodiversities in the world, which should be preserved. Vietnam’s tourism potential should be exploited in a way that preserves biodiversity.
Vietnam now has 180 nature conservation centers and 63 bird sanctuaries, which are resources for developing ecotourism, which attracts 30 percent of the tourists who came to Vietnam.
