Soprano Khanh Ngoc wins SLO-ASEAN Vocal Competition

(VOVworld)- Vietnamese opera singer Pham Khanh Ngoc has won the second prize at the SLO-ASEAN Vocal Competition held in Singapore recently.

Soprano Ngoc has surpassed 42 strong rivals from Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand to win the prestigious prize at the competition – the first of its kind in Singapore and the Southeast Asian region.   She gave an outstanding performance with Handel’s opera masterpieces namely ‘Bel raggio lusinghier’, ‘Gioachino Rossini’ and ‘Tornami a vagheggiar’.

The first prize winner received US$10,000 in cash and Ngoc, as second prize winner received US$7.500. Ngoc graduated from the Conservatory of HCM City in 2014 with excellent results under the tutorship of soprano Cho Hae Ryong from the Republic of Korea. She has won several prestigious awards in Vietnam and joined many concerts abroad.

Opera lovers are expected to enjoy her soprano voice at a concert scheduled for November 19-20 in HCM City Opera House in a masterpiece of Jacques Offenbach, ‘La Vie Parisienne’.
