South Korea, US to cooperate on North Korean issues

(VOVWORLD) - The US and South Korea have agreed to closely cooperate over the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the establishment of an enduring peace regime.

The consensus was made during a telephone conversation on Tuesday between South Korea's Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Ms. Kang said that during their high-level talks at the truce village of Panmunjom on Monday, the two Koreas agreed to hold the third summit between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang sometime in September.

South Korea will send an advance team to North Korea this week to inspect preparations for an upcoming reunion event for families separated by the Korea War.
