South Korea, US top diplomats hold talks over Japan's export curbs

(VOVWORLD) - The top diplomats of South Korea and the United States have held  talks on the telephone to discuss Tokyo's recent export control measure against Seoul and questions of diplomacy relating to North Korea's denuclearization, South Korea’s foreign ministry said Thursday.

During the 15-minute talks with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday night, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha voiced concerns over Japan's restrictions on the exports of key high-tech materials to South Korea. The two diplomats agreed to continue close communication to achieve the shared goals of complete denuclearization and a lasting peace on the peninsula. They also agreed to continue their dialogue on the sidelines of a regional forum set to open in Thailand in early August.
