Southern region seeks solutions to socio-economic development
(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Planning and Investment hosted an online conference on Wednesday to discuss solutions to socio-economic development and public investment in the Southeast region and the Mekong Delta in 2022.

These two regions are particularly important to Vietnam’s socio-economic development. They contribute enormously to national growth, budget revenues, and exports. But a months-long social distancing mandate to slow coronavirus transmission has disrupted local life and production, specifically industry and services in the Southeast region and agriculture in the Mekong Delta.

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong said, “Pandemic containment is the first and foremost task in both regions. Once the situation is under control, we can allow enterprises, industrial parks, and workers to resume production. We expect them to recover soon. The Ministry of Planning and Investment will help localities devise plans for reviving production safely. People’s health is always the top priority.”
