Spectators thrilled by rowing tournament at Hung King Festival
(VOVWORLD) - 300 athletes of nine teams competed at the Open Rowing Championship in Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province, on Sunday, as part of the Hung King Festival, which marks the death anniversary of the Hung Kings, the legendary founders of the Vietnamese nation.
Truong Quang Thang, the leader of Cam Khe district’s team, which won the race, said that they were very proud and excited.
“Our achievement was due to the solidarity of the athletes, the attention of leaders from the district to the provincial level, and the enthusiastic cheers of the spectators. We’ll continue to do our best in upcoming tournaments,” said Thang.
This year the audience got to see a stand-up paddleboard performance by 50 crew members.
Do Quy Sang, a resident of Viet Tri city, said, “This year's race had many new features. One of these was stand-up paddleboard racing, which excited the people of Viet Tri city and neighboring localities.”
The Viet Tri Open Traditional Boat Race, now in its sixth year, is an annual activity held during the Hung Kings Temple Festival in Phu Tho province.
