Spokeswoman’s statement on China’s withdrawal of vessel group from Vietnam’s EEZ, continental shelf

(VOVWORLD) -Asked by reporters on Friday about the withdrawal of Chinese survey vessel group Haiyang Dizhi-8 from Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) and continental shelf, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said “The Ministry has repeatedly spoken out about the activities by China’s geological survey vessel group Haiyang Dizhi 8."

"All activities in Vietnamese waters defined by the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and without Vietnam’s consent are acts of violating Vietnam’s sovereign rights and jurisdiction rights. Vietnam demands that parties involved respect Vietnam’s sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction rights and do not repeat violation," said spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang. 

Asked by Xinhua News Agency on Tuesday about Vietnam’s comment on the situation in Hong Kong, spokesperson of the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Le Thi Thu Hang said “Vietnam supports China’s “One country-two systems’ policy; is interested in and concerned that recent developments in Hong Kong have negatively impacted on socio-economic life of Hong Kong people, therefore, it’s necessary to resume order and stabilize the situation."

"Vietnam wants and believes that the Chinese government and the Hong Kong authority will take effective measures to ensure safety and legitimate rights of Vietnamese citizens and businesses in Hong Kong,” spokesperson Hang added.
