Ba Trieu, whose real name was Trieu Thi Trinh, led her troops to fight against the Wu invaders in 248.
The 3-day festival in Thanh Hoa province, Ba Trieu’s native land, features an incense offering ritual, a palanquin procession, and a presentation of oration.
There are also art performances by local troupes to reenact the uprising led by Ba Trieu and tribute Vietnamese women’s contributions to national construction and defense. The event also includes an exhibit to introduce Thanh Hoa’s heritages and promote local tourism.
