Startup Innovation Centers set up at universities and colleges

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese Party and State advocate for innovation and startups and the formation of start-up ecosystems in all economic sectors, including at universities and colleges.

Vu Quoc Huy, Director of the National Innovation Center, told a conference entitled “Developing Startup Innovation Centers at Universities and Colleges”, which debuted the Network of Startup Innovation Centers at Universities and Colleges on Tuesday, that the Network is of great importance to establish connections, share knowledge and resources, and support the operation of Startup Innovation Centers at universities and colleges nationwide. The Center pledged to accompany the Network’s activities in the future.

Dr. Le Mai Lan, Vice Chairman of Vingroup and Chairman of the VinUni University Council, said that VinUni is honored to be one of the first 13 members of the Network.

VinUni Startup Center belongs to Vingroup, which is able to create opportunities for other members of the Network to access case studies in business, technology, and development trend of health, tourism, agriculture, and energy.

The Network President for the 2022-2023 term is assigned as the Director of the Innovation and Incubation Center (FIIS) - Foreign Trade University. The Network President will be rotated annually.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thu Ha, Director of FIIS said the Network’s three core values are Connect–Cooperate–Co-innovate.

The Network will organize a forum every November for its members to exchange information as well as a startup competition for students, connecting members to co-organize training and R&D activities, and accompany NIC hosted activities.

13 first members of the Network are Startup Innovation Centers of the Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh National University, Hue University, Thai Nguyen University, Foreign Trade University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, National Economics University, Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, VinUni University, University of Foreign Languages-VNU-HN, Greenwich Vietnam, Hanoi College of Commerce and Tourism, and Hanoi High-Tech Vocational College. The Network elects an Executive Board of 7 members.
