That was a statement made by Nguyen Van Binh, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam on Sunday on the TV show “People ask, ministers answer”.

Binh said that a plan to restructure the banking system until 2020 has been approved by the government. He added that this year’s target is to deal with the weakest banks. So far, he said, the 9 weakest banks have been tackled.
Vietnam’s Consumer Price Index is expected to increase 6.2-6.5 percent this year. This is the lowest inflation rate in the past 10 years, thanks to steady management in macro-monetary policy, particularly banking monetary policy.
