Sudan’s President sworn in for a new term

(VOVworld) - Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir was sworn in on Tuesday for another five-year term after winning in Sudan’s presidential election in April with an official landslide of 94 percent of the vote. His ruling National Congress Party won 323 of 426 parliamentary seats.

The opposition parties boycotted the vote which they said aimed at extending Bashir’s rule over the past 25 years. During his electoral campaign, al-Bashir pledged to improve the economy and maintain stability.
