The death toll from Israeli airstrikes on Gaza since Sunday has risen to 13. Egypt called on Israel and the Palestinians to halt the violence. Egypt has told Israeli authorities to halt their operations in Gaza and urged Palestinians to show self-restraint, don’t get dragged into an armed conflict, and return to the negotiating table.

Tensions between Israel and Palestine grew after six Palestinians were killed in a gun fight on Sunday night. The Israeli military on Monday bombed a TV station that belongs to the Hamas movement and conducted airstrikes all over the Gaza Strip in response to retaliatory rocket fire.
