(VOVworld)-Some 1,000 delegates representing 15 million women across the country are attending the 11th National Women’s Congress which opened in Hanoi today. Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung were among the attendees. The conference themed “ Solidarity- Creativity- Integration- Development” will seek ways to help members of the Vietnam Women’s Union escape poverty and contribute their strength and creativity to national growth. Union’s Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa highlighted the organization’s past achievements and its tasks for the next five years."Vietnamese women promise to be loyal to the Party and State and bring into play their heroism, steadfastness, faithfulness and resourcefulness. The Vietnam Women’s Union has enthusiastically responded to the movement of following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples and has participated in other patriotic emulation drives contributing to national construction and defense", said Ms Hoa..

In his address, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong highlighted the achievements of the Vietnam’s Women’s Union. "The Party aims to boost macro economic development by combining economic growth with social welfare, restructuring the economy, building and improving the Party, promoting democracy and consolidating national unity. To this end, we need to bring into play the strength of the national unity bloc, especially the role of women. The 11th Party resolution enables women to increase their professionalism to meet the demands of industrialization and modernization and international integration. The resolution also helps women improve their physical and emotional lives and encourages them to contribute to the nation", said Mr. Trong.

The Party leader urged the Vietnam Women’s Union to reform and diversify its activities, improve the quality of its membership and help women participate in the work of Party building. He urged the organization to pay more attention to family affairs and the care and protection of children and mothers.
