The Tale of Kieu highlighted at Paris exhibition

(VOVWORLD) - “The Tale of Kieu” and its many translations into foreign languages were showcased at an exhibition in Paris over the weekend.

The exhibition was part of activities marking the 255th birth anniversary and  200th death anniversary of Vietnamese poet Nguyen Du, author of "The Tale of Kieu."

Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Vietnamese Ambassador to UNESCO, addressed the event which attracted French and Vietnamese scholars, writers, translators, and painters, "The exhibition creates an opportunity for us to commemorate Vietnam’s greatest poet."

"In 2013, UNESCO released a resolution on organizing the 250th birth anniversary of poet Nguyen Du at the UNESCO headquarters and elsewhere in the world. Such commemoration by UNESCO is only for those who made considerable contributions to world culture, education, and science," she noted.
