Supporters of the Indonesian People’s Sovereignty National Movement (GNKR) attended a mass rally in Central Jakarta on Tuesday to protest the results of the 2019 presidential election. The police raised public security measures to their highest level.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla urged the people to stay calm and respect the law. He said Indonesia is a democratic country where everyone has the right to express their opinion, but protests will not overturn an election result.

The Indonesian Constitution Court allows parties 3 days to file a legal objection to an election result.
