Top legislator discusses land use, corruption prevention with voters in Can Tho

(VOVWORLD) - National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on Friday met with voters in the town of Nhon Nghia , Phong Dien district, in the Mekong city of Can Tho, ahead of the National Assembly session.

High on the  agenda were issues related to agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, including the impacts of climate change on production and daily activities, and increasing oil and electricity prices.

Addressing voters’ questions on restrictions caused by quotas on land use and the application of  advanced technologies in agriculture, Ms. Ngan said: "The National Assembly has plans on law making for the whole 14th tenure, including amendments and revisions to the Land Law. The National Assembly will also maintain steady oversight in order to overcome existing issues at the grassroots level."

Chairwoman Ngan said that all voters’ concerns will be heard and forwarded to relevant agencies as soon as possible.

Later the same day, Ms. Ngan met with more than 200 voters of Cai Rang district where she addressed their questions on corruption prevention and the process of confiscating corrupt assets.

"The National Assembly will increase its oversight by asking related agencies, including the Ministry of Public Security, the Supreme People’s Procuracy, the Supreme Court, and the Ministry of Justice, to submit relevant reports to the National Assembly on its investigation, prosecution, and law enforcement ahead of every National Assembly meeting," said National Assembly Chairwoman Ngan.
