Traditional New Year Festivals of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City

(VOVworld) – A festival revitalizing the traditional New Year ceremonies of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand was held in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday. The festival features the Bun Pi May of Laos, Chol Chnam Thmay of Cambodia, Thingyang of Myanmar, and Songkran of Thailand.

Hoang Ngoc Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Associations in Ho Chi Minh City said: “The festival has strengthened the friendly relations and unity of 4 countries Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar.

The festival will open until Sunday introducing 4 countries’ traditional costumes, arts, songs, cuisines, and scenic spots.

On the occasion of the Chol Chnam Thmay festival, representatives of the Steering Board of the Southwestern Region paid a visit to Khmer pagodas, the Association of Patriotic Monks, and Khmer community in Soc Trang province. Deputy Head of the Steering Committee Nguyen Trung Hieu expressed his hope that Khmer people will continue to promote patriotism and national unity for national development.
