Since the project was restarted in March 2019, the Prime Minister has three times visited the project site to examine ways to remove obstacles and make sure that the entire project will open to traffic by the end of this year.

Prime Minister Phuc said that after 9 months a huge workload of the project has been implemented thanks to great efforts of investors, contractors, localities and related agencies. He stated: “This route is very important to people in the Mekong Delta region and to socio-economic development of the region. I request the Ministry of Transport to be in charge of implementing the project from My Thuan to Can Tho, disbursing all capital. So the entire route must be completed as soon as possible. At the same time, the Can Tho-Ca Mau route should be planned for the 2021 to 2025 period to complete the 365km expressway from Ho Chi Minh City to Trung Luong, My Thuan, Can Tho, and Ca Mau.”

The Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway Project plus the Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong and My Thuan-Can Tho expressways will create a large transport system connecting 13 Mekong Delta provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.
