Organized by Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the program connected 3 locations in the city, the Reunification Palace, Tan Nhut commune, and Binh My commune, which are associated with the historic event. The program also featured songs in praise of staunchness of Vietnamese people and army. People’s artist Tran Hieu said: “Today is very special. The resounding 1968 General Offensive took place when I was in the Laos battlefield. The campaign inspired me to sing with fire. I am very glad to be here to sing now.”

Military generals and officers who fought in the General Offensive were moved when recalling the harsh but glorious days. Pham Van Chi is one of them: “I feel very proud because I took part in the 1968 campaign with 4 combat operations in Saigon. 50 years have passed. The war was so harsh and I am very moved.”
