UK Parliament to get a second chance to vote on Brexit deal

(VOVWORLD) - British Prime Minister Theresa May intends to give parliament a second chance to approve a Brexit deal, her spokesman said on Monday. Negotiations are ongoing to change the deal so it can win lawmakers' support.

The spokesman said he cannot imagine any circumstances under which parliament would not be given another chance to approve a Brexit deal, and insisted that May is committed to leaving the EU on March 29. A parliamentary committee said the government won’t accept a no-deal Brexit, so Parliament deserves the right to vote to extend negotiations.

UK financial services minister John Glen said on Monday that Britain is working hard to reach a Brexit deal, but it would still be prudent to put in place contingency measures in case no agreement is reached.  Glen told a conference in London that he is confident that Britain will be successful in the end.
