UK Police: Manchester incident being investigated as terrorist attack
(VOVWORLD) - The man who carried out an attack at a synagogue in Manchesteron Thursday which left two Jewishpeople dead and three others injuredhas been named by the UK police as Jihad Al-Shamie.

Al-Shamie, a 35-year-old British man of Syrian descent, attacked people with a car outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue before attacking bystanders with a knife. He was shot dead by police at the scene.
Greater Manchester Police said two men in their 30s and a woman in her 60s were arrested in connection with the attack, suspected of planning and instigating acts of terrorism.
Following an emergency Cobra committee meeting in Downing Street, Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the attack, which took place on Yom Kippur –the holiest day of the Jewish calendar. He pledged to strengthen security for the Jewish community.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the Government will deploy additional security forces to protect synagogues across the UK.
