UN hails Vietnam’s peacekeeping engagement

(VOVWORLD) - The UN Department of Field Support on Monday announced that Vietnam will be the first ASEAN country selected to become a training site for UN peacekeeping forces, to be followed by Cambodia, Indonesia, and Thailand.

Colonel Nguyen Van Hai, military attaché and counselor for military affairs at the Vietnamese Permanent Mission to the UN, said the selection shows the UN’s high evaluation of Vietnam’s capacity for contributing to UN peacekeeping activities.

The first training course will be held at the end of this year.
