(VOVworld) - Two civilians and a UN peacekeeper were killed when militants attacked a barracks used by the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) in the northern Malian town of Kidal.  Around 5.40am local time, the MINUSMA camp in Kidal was hit by more than 30 rockets and shells during a complex attack, said MINUSMA. An initial assessment revealed the death of a MINUSMA soldier. Eight soldiers were wounded. The rockets also hit Kidal citizens outside the camp, and two deaths and four wounded were reported. It was not immediately clear who was responsible for Sunday’s attack. Kidal is the cradle of northern Mali’s Tuareg separatist movement, northwestern Africa’s al-Qaeda, and other separatist groups.
