UN provides US$2ml of emergency relief for Somalia to cope with cholera

(VOVworld) – The UN humanitarian agency has provided an additional 2 million US dollars to step against cholera outbreak in southern and central Somalia.

Over 7,000 cholera cases have been reported in the first quarter of this year in Somalia

The UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on Monday health and water, sanitation and hygiene supplies to cover an estimated caseload of 500 severe and 12,000 moderate cases are being distributed.
Over 7,000 cholera cases have been reported in the first quarter of this year and 15,000 severe and 60,000 moderate cases are predicted over the coming months, if there is no effective response and support from the international community.
