UN Security Council adopts resolution establishing Gaza stabilization force
(VOVWORLD) -The UN Security Council has adopted a resolution authorizing an International Stabilization Force (ISF) in the Gaza Strip to restore order, protect civilians, and pave the way for large-scale humanitarian aid and reconstruction. The resolution passed with 13 votes in favor and abstentions from Russia and China.

The ISF will work with Egypt, Israel, and a newly trained Palestinian police force to secure Gaza’s border areas and demilitarized zones. The ISF will also be tasked with the permanent disarmament of non-state armed groups, protecting civilians, and ensuring the safety of humanitarian aid corridors.
A Transitional Peace Council — to be chaired by US President Donald Trump — is envisioned as overseeing Gaza’s affairs until December 2027. The resolution also mentions the possibility of creating a future Palestinian state.
Hamas rejected the resolution, saying it fails to respect the "demands and rights" of the Palestinians and imposes an international trusteeship on the Gaza Strip.
