UN Under-Secretary-General visits Vietnam

(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh has met with UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, in Hanoi on March 31.

Mr. Minh said Vietnam appreciated UN assistance in the past, including UN Women. He affirmed that gender equality has been included in Vietnam’s Constitution. The country is fine tuning the legal system on this matter. Ms. Mlambo-Ngcuka said social security was the top concern of many countries and Vietnam has good practices to share with others. She expressed her hope that Vietnam would continue to work closely with UN Women on gender quality and the empowerment of women.
