UN urges parties to respect ceasefire in Yemen

(VOVWORLD) - The head of the United Nations team tasked with monitoring a fragile ceasefire in Yemen's flashpoint city of Hodeidah has visited its lifeline docks, according to a port official.

Patrick Cammaert, retired Dutch general, called on Yemen's Saudi-backed government forces and Houthi rebels to respect the hard-won truce. After visiting the docks through which the majority of humanitarian aid enters Yemen, Cammaert said the international community is adamant about ending the Yemen war. He stressed the importance of honoring the agreement and said he will visit the battlefront at a later date.

Cammaert arrived in Hodeidah from the rebel-held capital Sanaa, after meeting with government officials in Aden.
