UNICEF Vietnam cited Russell as saying that over the past few decades, Vietnam has made great strides in ensuring that children nationwide are healthy and safe, have access to education, and are given the opportunity to fulfill their potential.
She said UNICEF will continue to cooperate with the Vietnamese Government and partners so that all children, especially the most vulnerable, have access to the services and assistance they need. In Vietnam, UNICEF has been helping the Government train teachers and reform school curricula.
During her trip, Russell worked with senior leaders of the Government, National Assembly, and ministries and visited several healthcare facilities in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai which examine and treat malnourished children.
