UNSC condemns terrorist attack on Indonesian church

(VOVWORLD) - The UN Security Council on Tuesday condemned the recent suicide bombing at an Indonesian church in Makassar city, calling terrorism a serious threat to international peace and security and demanding that the perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors be held accountable.

In a press statement, proposed by Vietnam, the UN Security Council called on all countries to cooperate closely with the Government of Indonesia and related agencies in investigating the case in line with international law and UN Security Council resolutions. 

The suicide bombing took place at 10:30 am on Sunday outside a Makassar Catholic church. The two suspects were the only fatalities, but some 20 people were injured. Police identified the two suspects as a husband and wife who were members of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) terrorist network in Indonesia.
