US companies urge President Trump to delay new tariffs on China
(VOVWORLD) - 160 American companies on Wednesday called on President Donald Trump to postpone new tariffs on Chinese imports, saying in a letter that this is “the worst possible time”, with the Christmas holidays coming, when consumer demand is highest.
They said if the Trump administration imposes tariffs of 15 per cent on 300 billion USD of Chinese imports, American consumers will see higher prices.
The letter came after the US Trade Representative confirmed President Trump’s plan to impose an additional 5 percent tariff on 300 billion USD worth of Chinese imports starting on September 1 and December 15.
