(VOVworld) – The US has voiced concerns over possible tensions in the East Sea, after China began to build 2 lighthouses on the reefs of Gac Ma and Chau Vien, which belong to Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago.

Josh Earnest, a spokesman for the White House, said on Tuesday that security in the East Sea is critically important to US national security as well as to the global economy. Jeff Rathke, the spokesman for the US Department of State, has reiterated the US’s stance that China’s moves in the East Sea have escalated tensions in the region.
