In a telephone talk with Vietnamese ambassador to the US Ha Kim Ngoc on Friday, Mr. Ami Bera who is also Chairman of Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific and Nonproliferation, said the subcommittee gives priority to promoting cooperation in economics, trade, and national defense with many countries in the region. The two sides discussed the East Sea situation and Mekong-US cooperation. Regarding the East Sea issue, Mr. Ami Bera said the US Congress and he himself closely follow developments in the East Sea and protest any violation of sovereignty, and international laws in the region.

Ambassador Ngoc asked Ami Bera and California authorities to continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community working and living there.
