US considers lifting ban on weapons sales to Vietnam

Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Truong Quang Khanh made the statement in Hanoi on Monday while receiving Bob Corker, US Senator and ranking member of the US Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee. Referring to the current East Sea situation, Khanh reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of settling all disputes through peaceful means in line with international law.
Corker said the US is considering lifting a ban on the export of antipersonnel weapons to Vietnam. He said the improvement of relations between the two nations will contribute to world peace and stability.
