(VOVWORLD) - US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said Thursday that the EU, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and South Korea will temporarily be exempt from President Donald Trump's steel and aluminum tariffs.

The statement came after Mr. Trump two weeks ago imposed a 25% tariff on steel imports and a 10% tariff on aluminum imports despite strong objections from the international community, including US allies.
