US, Germany sign Energy Partnership

(VOVWORLD) - The US and Germany have signed a new energy and climate partnership, Germany’s Economics and Climate Protection Minister Robert Habeck and US Climate Envoy John Kerry said on Friday.

The energy partnership will focus on accelerating climate action, speeding up energy transition with new technologies, and promoting climate action in other countries.

Both countries signed the joint declaration on the sidelines of the G7 climate and energy ministers’ meeting in Berlin.

Germany is aiming to achieve zero emissions by 2045, five years earlier than the government's previous target. The US is also working to achieve the same goal by 2050.
