Trump’s decision was the most significant policy reversal since he took office in January last year. The US Congress, under the control of the Republicans, is considering legislative measures to address the immigration issue. On Thursday, the US House of Representatives said it will vote on 2 bills to end the separation of illegal immigrant families.

Trump’s decision received a positive response. Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray tweeted that the move will end the cruel and inhumane policy that separates immigrant children from their parents. The Guatemalan government and Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez who is on a visit to the US also applauded Trump’s new executive order.
