US, RoK help Vietnamese flood victims

(VOVWORLD) - US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrink on Friday announced an aid package worth more than 1 million USD to help Vietnam recover from Typhoon Damrey and prevent natural disasters.

Ambassador Kritenbrink said the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will provide a grant of 250,000 USD in disaster relief, including commodities and essential items, for people in the areas most affected by the typhoon.

The Republic of Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the country will also provide a humanitarian aid of 1 million USD to people affected by the recent typhoon.

The Ministry said in a statement that the Korean government expresses its sincere sympathy with the Vietnamese people over the losses caused by the storm and hopes for a prompt return to normality as well as recovery from the damage.
