The Declaration, announced as South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol paid an official state visit to the White House, said the US and South Korea are committed to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific.

The US pledges to make every effort to consult with South Korea on any possible nuclear weapons deployment on the Korean Peninsula, while South Korea affirms its commitment to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. The two countries have committed to deeper dialogue and information sharing about nuclear threats to South Korea and region.

The two leaders announced the establishment of a new Nuclear Consultative Group (NCG) to strengthen deterrence, discuss strategic planning, and manage the threat posed by North Korea.

President Joe Biden said, “A nuclear attack by North Korea against the US, its allies, or partners is unacceptable and will result in the end of whatever regime were to take such an action. It's about strengthening deterrence in response to the DPRK's escalatory behavior and the deal is complete consultation”.
