(VOVWORLD) - US President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order increasing government control over social media platforms.

President Trump told reporters he is protecting freedom of speech from the greatest threat in history. The move came after President Trump accused social media giants of abusing their power to edit, restrict, suppress, and prevent the free flow of information on their platforms.
On Wednesday, Trump threatened to “strongly regulate” or shut down social media platforms after Twitter, for the first time, put warning labels on 2 of his tweets.
