Minister of Communications Jorge Rodriguez said at a press conference on Thursday that retired Colonel Oswaldo Valentín García Palomo, the main liaison for the attempt, was arrested last month after he tried to enter the country to organize a military coup. In a video presented by Rodriguez, García Palomo is shown confessing to ties with the Central Intelligence Agency and Colombian officials for the rebellion plans. The rebels targeted the Presidential palace, the Carlota military air base, and communication centers in Caracas.

Bolivian Foreign Minister Diego Pary said Thursday that his country opposes any intervention in Venezuela’s internal affairs. Bolivian President Evo Morales also said a peaceful approach is needed to tackle the political crisis in Venezuela.
