Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan pays an official visit to Greece

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan had a meeting with the Greek President on Monday during which both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges and visits at all levels toward expanding bilateral economic, trade, investment, cultural, and tourism ties.

The meeting was part of an official visit to Greece by Vice President Xuan at the invitation of Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou from October 31 to November 2.

Sakellaropoulou announced a decision to give 250,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses to Vietnam.

Both sides affirmed support for the settlement of disputes by peaceful means, refraining from use or threat of force, and highlighted the importance of maritime security, safety, and freedom, and compliance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Meeting Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Greece Charalampos Athanasiou the same day, Ms. Xuan suggested the Greek parliament continue promoting effective implementation of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA). The host affirmed appreciation of ties with Vietnam and support for the Vietnam-Greece and the Vietnam-EU relationship.

On October 31, Vice President Xuan visited the family of the late Greek hero of the Vietnam People’s Armed Forces Kostas Nguyen Van Lap and met the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Greece.
