Vietnam a reliable, respected member of the ASEAN community: Singapore expert
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has become a vital part of the ASEAN community since it joined the organization 25 years ago, said Dr. Frederick Kliem, a research specialist at the Center for Multilateral Studies, S. Rajaratnam School, Singapore.
He said Vietnam is a reliable and constructive ASEAN member and a bridge connecting Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. Dr. Frederick added that Vietnam plays an active role in the security community, particularly in regional security and maritime security.
Dr. Frederick said he was impressed by Vietnam’s achievements in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic. Vietnam has done a good job as ASEAN Chair, organizing hundreds of online meetings at all levels, he said.
